![]() Based on your readings from your text: 1. The function of a society¡¯s educational institution is to teach the younger generation whatever knowledge that they need in order to succeed as an adult, no matter what occupation they end up taking.
Bilingual Education in Public Schools
For the past thirty years in the State of California, bilingual education has been undertaken by all the public schools of the state. Under such system, children of non-American ethnic have had a special treatment in their early academic career. Children of minority groups have been thought various subjects in their native tongues. Such subjects are Math, History and some Science classes.

![]() As policy is being made in Washington governing the future of testing in and funding for schools, little or nothing is being said there about bringing bright motivated young people into the field of teaching nor of trying to make good teachers of the people who do chose this path. Of my five Yale roommates in 1996, four of them wanted to teach.

![]() The Russian economy has been struggling as it treads on the difficult path of recovery ever since the former Soviet Union collapsed in December of 1991. Although Russia is known to be abundant in natural resources and equipped with a well-educated workforce, it has had limited success as it tries to get rid of the legacy of a centrally controlled economy and move towards a market economy.

![]() The Japanese education system is extremely competitive. The ways in which Japanese students go about educating their children and students is not similar to the United States. To get into the elite universities is very competitive and competition starts at a very young age. Because of all this competition Japanese students are much more stressed than American students.
Higher Education in China and in U.S.A.
![]() There are many difference and similarities between the higher education in China and the U.S.A. American education has its roots in the old world and it has been greatly respected throughout the history of the United States. Both in China and the U.S.A. there are different types of education. In the U.S.A. , higher education has altogether three functions: teaching, research and public service. Federal government in the U.S.A. influence education and attributes finally to its development, but it has no control over educational policies for the education within its boundary.

Germany and the United States are two of those countries which educate their students using the same kind of schools, but have also many differences in the way they educate.

As we go through our days, we whine about our bosses, the governor’s latest political agenda, or read commentary about how the war in Iraq is morally wrong. Whether we are sending e-mail, posting on message boards, or reading the news online, we are guaranteed the same freedom of self expression that we enjoy offline. |
